Out of our “Lacking” . . .

There is a story Jesus tells in the bible about a Widow’s Offering . . . it can be found in Mark 12:41-44

43Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

This passage has been a challenge to me lately . . . the thought we can give a greater blessing to God out of our lacking then out of our abundance. There are a number of principles at work here, but one of the things that has captured my attention is - Giving out of our lacking is a trust issue . . . we have to trust God to make up the rest! The rest of what we need and the rest of what he needs. Sometimes we don’t give out of our lacking because we don’t want things to only get 1/2 finished or be lacking . . . how about we trust God to make up the difference and bring the right people along side who can complete the process. Giving out of your lack is not an excuse for giving less than your best . . . it is actually giving your best plus everything else. This lady gave out of her poverty, putting in everything . . . are you giving everything to God!

It’s easy to give $ when you have plenty of $, but maybe you need to give out of your lacking which might be time . . .
It’s easy to give time when you have plenty of time, but maybe God would call you to give out of your lacking and give more $ . . .

It’s not about God needing your time or your $ - it’s about him needing you to trust with your lacking the same you are able to trust with your abundance.

Where are you lacking today and what might God be calling you to give?
